Abstract
The main goal of the conducted research was to get to know and assess the impact of socioeconomic
changes after 1989 on city space development in 26 monofunctional cities of the Eastern
Region in market economy conditions. In this research the definition of monofunctional cities
refers to industrial cities. In to account has been taken changes of functional o rganization in the
cities, i.e. changes of structure of built-up areas and urban areas for th e years 2002-2010.
