Abstract

"Standards concerning polygraph examinations for common application can be found in by-laws as well as in recommendations issued by the American Polygraph Association (APA) and in standards adopted by ASTM International (American Society for Testing and Materials International). Th e fi rst of these organizations was founded in 1966 and has a membership of over three thousand polygraphists, whereas the second is a normalization organization which can trace its roots back to 1898. Both have the adjective “American” in their names, but in fact these are international organizations open to representatives from all over the world."(...)
