    Opportunities to increase Poland’s defence capacity through in-service training for teachers of military preparation units

    The substantial re-education of the Polish Armed Forces has necessitated replenishment of the number of reserve personnel. To this end, new forms of short military training for volunteers have been introduced, in line with the objective that within the next few years the number of soldiers and civilian employees of the military will initially exceed 200,000, and later 300,000. The aim of this article is to analyse the possibilities of increasing Poland’s defence capacity through in-service training for teachers of military preparation units. The research included analysis of the literature on the subject of military education classes in Poland, as well as the study of regulatory documents in the area under consideration. Theoretical research methods such as analysis, synthesis and inference were also applied. The study presented here includes an account of the origins of the military preparation units and a description of the features of the in-service training for teachers of those units, conducted at the War Studies University.

Pierwsza część publikacji została wydana w 2010 roku i ukazywała chęć rozwinięcia tematu wsparcia dziecka i młodzieży zdolnej przedstawionego w badaniach europejskiej sieci Eurydyce. Badania te ukazały się w 2008 roku i dotyczyły ustalenia terminologii tego problemu, ustalenia specjalnych rozwiązań edukacyjnych i ich rodzajów oraz kwestii kształcenia i dokształcania nauczycieli do pracy z uczniami zdolnymi/ utalentowanymi.

    A paper is devoted to a role of post-educational institutions in a worthdoing organisation of leisure time of children and the youth. Different forms of activities conducted in that institutions have the impact on a versatile development of a personality of the young, and it goes with education to values. The institutions prepare children and the youth to live in a society (buliding up one’s proper social attitudes, abilities to take up a group and individual decisions, cooperation in a group). The institutions teach the openess to the other man (breaking up barriers and stereotypes, openess to multiple cultures and diversities of human’s behaviours and attitudes). They prepare to an active participation in culture (an aware receiver and a creater of culture). A teacher plays an important role in education to values – instructor (cultural educationist). One should be well-prepared for it from pertaining to the content so as to carry out activities, and being tactfull and sensitive to the other man

    Teaching Practice Tasks has been designed for students of initial teacher training courses who are about to start their teaching practice. The book contains a set of materials that provide guidance and enable trainees to keep record of their development at the beginning of their teaching career. The book may be used by institutions which organize their students’ teaching practice in cooperation with school-based mentors. The tasks offered in the book may be used by teacher trainers and mentors as a tool to check and assess trainees’ progress. The book may be particularly helpful in supervision of extra-mural and distance learning students, who because of geographical and time constraints may wish to take up their teaching practice at their local schools.
