W pracy przybliżono tematykę hipotermii terapeutycznej, jednego z elementów opieki poresuscytacyjnej, który może poprawić rokowanie i zwiększyć szansę na lepszą jakość życia chorych po zatrzymaniu krążenia. Podjęto próbę uzasadnienia, dlaczego należy jak najwcześniej wprowadzać pacjenta w hipotermię - np. podczas zaawansowanych zabiegów resuscytacyjnych w okresie udzielania pomocy w warunkach wewnątrz - jak i przedszpitalnych.

The paper presents the subject of therapeutic hypothermia, one of the elements of post-resuscitation care, which may improve the prognosis and increase the chance of a better quality of life of patients after cardiac arrest. An attempt was made to justify why it is necessary to introduce the patient into hypothermia as early as possible - eg during advanced resuscitation procedures during the period of providing assistance in hospital and pre-hospital conditions.
