Autorka dokonuje oceny poziomu deklarowanego poczucia satysfakcji z życia (PSzŻ) i jego zależności od poczucia sensu życia (PSŻ) u matek dzieci chorujących na dystrofi ę mięśniową Duchenne’a (DMD). Istotna dla całokształtu artykułu jest analiza porównawcza badań prowadzonych wśród matek dzieci z DMD oraz przywołane z literatury przedmiotu koncepcje – modele ukazujące czynniki radzenia sobie w krytycznych sytuacjach życiowych.
