Artykuł prezentuje swoistego rodzaju szkic Akademii Sztuki Wojennej (ASzWoj) jako wszechnicy kształcącej wojskowe i cywilne elity na potrzeby obronności i bezpieczeństwa państwa. Uczelni, która z jednej strony kreuje nowe kierunki rozwoju współczesnej myśli wojskowej i jest zorientowana na innowacyjne badania oraz zastosowanie teorii i praktyki sztuki wojennej, z drugiej zaś strony akademii, która kontynuuje dokonania swych poprzedniczek i podtrzymuje chlubne tradycje związane z kształceniem i doskonaleniem zawodowym kadr dowódczych, sztabowych i logistycznych Sił Zbrojnych Rzeczypospolitej Polskiej. Artykuł przedstawia rys historyczny ASzWoj, jej aktualną strukturę oraz zadania i rolę, jaką uczelnia odrywa w systemie wyższego kształcenia wojskowego. W tekście zaprezentowano główne zagrożenia i szanse działalności Akademii w uwarunkowaniach współczesnych oraz wizje i perspektywy jej dalszego funkcjonowania i rozwoju.

The article presents a kind of sketch of the War Studies University (pol. Akademia Sztuki Wojennej; ASzWoj), the university which educates military and civil elites according to the needs of national defense and security. The university on the one hand creates new directions for the development of modern military streams, on the other side, the university continues the achievements of its predecessors and maintains the glorious traditions associated with the education and professional development of command, staff and logistics staff of the Polish Armed Forces. The article presents the historical outline of ASzWoj, describes its current structure as well as the tasks and role that the university performs in the system of higher military education. The content of the article includes the main threats and opportunities of the academy’s activity in contemporary conditions as well as visions and perspectives for its further functioning and development.
